Request an Estimate from a Financial Aid Advisor

Want to know if you can afford to study abroad? Request an estimate of how much financial aid you can expect to receive. Remember, all programs have different costs, so before you meet with an advisor, decide on your program, or a couple that you are interested in, and then request a financial aid estimate. Speak with a Financial Aid Advisor during drop-in advising hours or email them to request an estimate (see below).

Email estimate requests to be sent directly to the alpha assigned Study Abroad Financial Aid Adviser:

Email estimate requests require the following completed document with the following information:
  • EAP Estimate Requests and VISA Letter Requests
  • Country Name - Example: Sweden
  • Program Specific Name - Example: Lund University
  • UCEAP Total Program Budget
    • This can be retrieved from the UCEAP website (
    • Select a program
    • Under the COSTS tab provide the Estimated UCEAP Costs
  • Term and Academic Year - Example: Fall 2019
  • Number of Units of the Study Abroad Program (Summer Programs Only) 
Please allow two weeks for the estimate request to be processed

Additional Fees for UCEAP Programs

All UCEAP students will be charged a miscellaneous campus fee in addition to the program cost. If applicable, you may also be assessed non-resident tuition or graduate fees. Please use the links below to determine the additional fees that will be added to the cost of your UCEAP program. There are many scholarships available for study abroad! Commit to spending the time to research your options and submit a scholarship application. Below are links to featured scholarships, but please note there are many more scholarship opportunities beyond this list.

Apply to Scholarships

  1. Search the scholarships resources: Use the resources to find scholarship opportunities that fit your needs. Scholarships are organized by UCEAP, independent opportunities, and regional options.
  2. Write your application: Carefully follow the criteria for each scholarship. You may want to emphasize why you’ve selected your program, academics, professional development, etc. Refer to this handout for tips on writing a great scholarship essay for assistance.
  3. Send to an Advisor: After you’ve completed your draft(s), you can send a copy to your Study Abroad Advisor for comments and Feedback. Please plan ahead and give your UCSC Study Abroad Advisor at least a week to respond.
  4. Submit your application!
