Frosh Students

When to Start Planning

As a first-year student, you have ample time to fit study abroad into your academic career. With careful planning, it is possible to study abroad or away 2 or even 3 times.

We recommend that you start planning one year in advance of when you would like to go abroad. That means if you want to study abroad next summer, you should start planning as soon as possible. Once you reach sophomore standing (45 units earned), you become eligible to study abroad.* Applications for 2021 study abroad programs will open up around October.

*Note: some programs require junior standing
