Program Overview:

Technical University of Denmark (DTU) is located in Kongens Lyngby, a northern suburb of Copenhagen located about 10 miles north of the city center. DTU is one of Europe’s leading engineering institutions, founded in 1829 as Denmark’s first polytechnic, or institute of technology, campus. Students will find more than 1200 courses taught in English in the natural and technical sciences, including computer science, physics, chemistry, and engineering. DTU also has a vibrant student life on campus, including many clubs, associations, social events, and sports.

Eligibility Requirements

This program is open to students who meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • 2.85 cumulative UCSC GPA or above
  • Good academic and disciplinary standing
  • Junior or Senior class standing by the time of departure
  • UCSC student, 18 years of age or older at the time of departure


You are required to take a full course load while abroad. You can search for courses on the DTU website. You will find a broad range of courses in chemistry, computer science, physics, and engineering, including biomedical, civil, electrical, environmental and mechanical. As long as you meet any prerequisites, you can enroll in either undergraduate or master’s level courses at DTU.

Please Note: The UC Santa Cruz Exchange Programs have limited space. Applications are processed and selected on rolling admission basis and first come first serve basis. Students are encouraged to apply early.

  1. Sign into SlugsAbroad with your CruzID to complete your Study Abroad Profile.
  2. Select your program to start the application process.
  3. Complete and submit the application. Make sure you have uploaded all required documents.
  4. Wait for notification about your selection status. You will be notified within three weeks of application submission. If selected, you will be prompted to begin completing pre-departure requirements, including health clearance and a host university application.
